Water Color Paintings

I have been working with watercolor lately inspired by another blog.
From Crafter.org they had a watercolor tutorial.. so I tried my version using a photo from my many hundered. The kiss or first kiss - we took this photo at the Getty. my husband and I always like to take photos by holding the camera out. I took this one barely catching the kiss.

The tutorial took the photo through desaturation and the taking the contrast up and adjusting the brightness to the level that you like.

I opened the photo in photo shop elements and desaturated and then played with the contrast and brightness. Then I placed the photo on an light box with a watercolor paper over it. I used masking liquid to cover up the white or light spots.

After I put the mask on and it was dry enough to paint. I just took my watercolor paints and then just started covering the photo with different colors. I painted our kiss with red and purples making it like passion and then the background just filled with greens and yellows.
I am excited that I have been able to finish a few projects this week and start on some new ones. I still have to find red fruits and veggies to do the RED painting for the DA.
